10 Best Breakfasts in Margaret River
Remember when your mum told you that breakfast was the most important meal of the day? Well, it still is! Even more so if you’re visiting any wineries later in the day.
A coffee and a hearty breakfast is a great start to the day. Here at Quality Inn we have an awesome breakfast menu at in-house restaurant Willow Grill. Our legendary toasted muesli will prepare you for the day ahead, and we share the recipe with you here.
Walk into town and there’s plenty of great breakfast options, or go further afield to Gnarabup or Prevelly for an ocean view.
Here’s 10 of the best places for breakfast in Margaret River.
1. Willow Grill
Our inhouse restaurant at Stay Margaret River, this is a perfect option if you are in residence. Choose an elegant fireside or outdoor deck setting, and you’ll find an extensive breakfast menu with complimentary tea, coffee and juice. There’s also barista coffee for devotees. Most popular is the Big Breakfast, with eggs any way, bacon, tomato, chipolatas, hash browns and toasted ciabatta bread.

2. Riversmith
A main street location in a stylishly renovated service station, Riversmith is large open cafe with a friendly unhurried feel. With both outdoor and inside seating, they cater for both dine in and takeaway. The banana bread is a stand out; so too the avocado with feta on toast with a delicious beetroot relish on the side. Outstanding coffee too.

3. Sidekick
Great place to hang out, with stools and benches overbooking the Main Street, you can relax here for ages taking in the colourful and lively vibe. Coffee is served with a smile, and keep cup options available for those trying to save the planet. An eco-responsible cafe with a healthy menu too, I went for an unforgettable banana and peanut butter smoothie!
Sidekick Café, open 7 days from 7am, 5/110 Bussell Highway, Margaret River
4. Margaret River Farmers Market
The first thing you notice, apart from the fabulous aroma of freshly brewed beans, is the queue. Ah, here it is. The coffee van. You can grab a coffee and wander around the market seeking out further delights. You will not be disappointed: there are sweet and savoury pastries, tarts, biscotti, gluten free goodies, pies, bacon and egg rolls as well as nourishing granola, berries and yogurt. This is absolutely the best type of brekky, simply grazing as you come across these sumptuous snacks.
Margaret River Farmers Market, Saturday 8am-12 noon, Margaret River Education Campus, Lot 272 Bussell Highway, Margaret River
5. White Elephant Cafe
What could be better than breakfast served all day, overlooking the beach at Gnarabup? From 7.30 daily, the extensive menu is both healthy and tasty. Catering for vegan, vegetarian, gluten and dairy intolerant, the food is innovative and served beautifully. I can highly recommend the wild mushrooms on toasted sourdough. Great coffee too.
White Elephant Café, open daily from 7.30am, Gnarabup Road, Gnarabup
6. Combi Coffee Van
To emerge from a big surf and be greeted by a coffee and a brownie, well, life just doesn’t get much better than this! This is heaven: the view, the open air, the barista: he even remembered my order from the day before.
Combi Coffee Van, see facebook for opening times, Rivermouth Road, Prevelly
7. Margaret River Bakery
Bustling bakery with a difference, this iconic shop serves the best range of baked goods for kilometres as well as catering for a sit down crowd every morning. Great vibe with the vintage furniture and old mismatched crockery. My bacon, egg, cheese and avocado stuffed croissant looked delicious on the old-fashioned dinner plate!
Margaret River Bakery, open Monday to Saturday from 7am, 89 Bussell Highway, Margaret River
8. The Hairy Marron
A small but very popular spot for cyclists. You can hire bikes or have your own repaired or serviced as you enjoy breakfast. A fabulous array of cakes and great coffee to match the healthy breakfast menu. Situated on the outskirts of town, tucked away in the bush and overlooking the river. You’ll love their home cooked muffins.
The Hairy Marron, daily from 8am, 69 Bussell Highway, Margaret River
9. Brew Shack
They say it’s all about the coffee, but when you come across a cosy cafe with a super friendly staff, good service, yummy food as well as consistently good coffee, you just want to return every day. Despite being there for a healthy breakfast, I could not resist the carrot cake. It arrived jewel encrusted with seeds, nuts, coconut flakes and dried fruit. You’ll also find a great supply of freshly baked treats on display.
Brew Shack, open from 6am on weekdays, 7am on weekends, 2/124 Bussell Highway, Margaret River (entrance on Fearn Ave, just back from Bussell Hwy)
10. Drift Cafe
Set off the main drag in an Art Deco building, Drift Cafe sets itself apart. Proudly catering for all diners, the menu reflects the passion and creativity of its owners. They source fresh ingredients and local whenever possible. Their zucchini bread and burger buns are baked in house and their coffee is top quality, Five Senses. How could anyone resist their classic breakfast which included potato rosti with delicious homemade chutney?
